NEWTOWN -- State police are looking for a driver who triggered a crash after an alleged road rage incident on Interstate 84 Friday afternoon.
According to police from Troop A in Southbury, the drivers of two vehicles -- a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado and a Volvo V70 -- became involved in a dispute while driving east on the highway at about 2:40 p.m.
The Silverado's driver passed the Volvo while approaching exit 11, then pulled the truck diagonally across the right and center lanes, blocking the Volvo's path, according to police. The truck's driver then approached the Volvo, which was being driven by a 17-year-old Newtown girl.
The girl panicked, put the car in reverse and was rear-ended by a 2008 Ford Edge.
There were no injuries reported.
The driver of the Silverado then fled the scene.
Police said they are looking for a red truck with license plate CT 61C S36. The vehicle is registered to New England Landscaping, a company based in Ridgefield.
Anyone with information should call Troop A at 1 (203) 264-5912.
Trooper Jason T. Cassavechia is investigating.
