Md. Troopers Told To Stick To Speed Limit
    SALISBURY, Md. (AP) ―
Maryland State Police superintendent Col. Terrance Sheridan has ordered state troopers to obey posted speed limits when responding to non life-threatening situations.

The directive was issued Saturday, one day after a trooper in Dorchester County was involved in a traffic accident that killed a Delmar woman.

State police spokesman Sgt. Arthur Betts says troopers will be allowed to exceed the speed limit in non-life-threatening situations if authorized by a supervisor.

Police say Trooper First Class Paul Zimmerman was responding to an accident when his patrol car slid on some ice and struck a car driven by Kristin Underkoffler. She was killed when her car struck a tractor trailer.

Betts says the trooper's speed at the time remains under investigation.

I guess the traffic accident that killed the Delmar woman has prompted MSP to change their driving speed.
