    SAN ANTONIO --

San Antonio Police Officer Robert Davis, who suffered serious injuries when he was struck by another SAPD officer's vehicle last week, died Monday, SAPD spokesman Sgt. Gabe Trevino said.

Davis, 26, had been a member of the SAPD for almost two years. Davis was taken off life support Monday afternoon, and he died at 7:42 p.m., SAPD Chief Bill McManus said at a Monday evening press conference.

Davis was clearing flares about 9:45 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Potranco Road and Hunt Lane when he was struck by a car driven by Officer David Seaton, who was driving north on Portranco Road while responding to a shoplifting call.

Seaton was trying to turn onto Hunt Lane when his car veered to the right and struck Davis, McManus said Friday evening. Seaton remains in critical condition at Wilford Hall Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements for Davis are pending, McManus said.

An investigation into the collision continues, he said, and the incident would likely result in a clarification to SAPD's sppeding policies. McManus said he would elaborate on those plans at a later date.

Davis is the 50th officer killed in the line of duty.
