City teen is in custody and a second was being sought Tuesday night after an alleged robbery Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster.
According to Lancaster police, two females, ages 15 and 17, were stopped by the two suspects, both male, at 12:41 p.m. in the 400 block of South Shippen Street. The suspects allegedly went through the girls' pockets and stole personal items, money and an MP4 player.
Officer Jonathan Caple responded to the call and, acting on information supplied by the victims, soon spotted one of the suspects, police said. When Caple approached him, he fled. Other officers arrived to assist, and, after a short pursuit on foot, the suspect was apprehended.
The victims confirmed the suspect's identity, and he was arrested, police said. Detective Michael Winters charged the 16-year-old suspect, as a juvenile, with two counts of robbery and one count of criminal conspiracy. The county Office of Juvenile Probation was notified, and the suspect was turned over to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
The second suspect was still at large Tuesday night. He is described as a black male, age 14 to 16, wearing tan pants and a black shirt.
Detectives are seeking additional information on the second suspect and ask anyone with information regarding Tuesday's incident or any crime to call the Lancaster Bureau of Police at 735-3300. Callers can remain anonymous.
