    (KTVI - myFOXstl.com) --
Two suspects die after a police chase ended on westbound I-70 between Riverview and Union in St. Louis City Saturday night.

The St. Charles County Sheriff's Department tells FOX 2 News that the chase began around 7 o'clock Saturday night. A St. Charles County Sheriff's Deputy on his way to work heard a radio call for a car wanted for armed robbery and carjacking. The deputy, who was driving on Interstate 70, spotted a car that matched the description. As he waited for confirmation from St. Louis County Police, the suspect car rammed his squad car and then sped off. The Deputy chased the suspects who then fired shots at him.

Police pursued the suspects through a St. Louis City neighborhood north of I-70. The men were driving a Chevy Cobalt. They re-entered I-70 the wrong way traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. The suspect car struck an oncoming Pontiac Grand Prix near Thrush and Bircher. The suspects were pronounced dead on the scene. All four people in the other car were transported to Barnes Hospital with injuries.

St. Louis City Police Homicide detectives are investigating the crash and fatalities.
